Learn to draw the 3-dimensional world!
Meet and share with other students!
Live instruction!
Drawing 101: Sustenance for the Mind and Spirit! is an interactive five week course in drawing. Classes will begin with lessons in gesture and contour drawing and progress to considerations of tone and light. Students will use their own still-life material and we will draw and discuss during class. This class is not a "how-to," but a series of progressive exercises for your hand and eye.
This class is subtitled “Sustenance for the Mind and Spirit!” based on my belief that learning to draw the three-dimensional world can be transformational as it relies on new ways of “seeing” the surrounding world in order to translate it to a two-dimensional surface. Studying the basic elements of drawing also leads one to a richer understanding of art in general.
My bio: I am a printmaker (etcher) whose work is solidly based in drawing. I especially enjoy drawing living things, though I try to draw all things, even the inanimate, as if they are alive.
I've taught Drawing at Hamilton College, Utica College, the State University of New York at Buffalo and The Kirkland Art Center among other venues. I've also taught Intaglio Printmaking and Two-Dimensional Design and have had numerous exhibitions over the past 35 years. Click here for my resume: www.amybuchholzprints.com/resume.html
